The Lake District has a rich heritage just waiting to be discovered, all within easy reach of Meadows Retreat Lodge Park, with secluded beaches, tranquil lakes and rugged mountains, the Western Lake District is unique. Human settlement began in the Lake District at least 5,000 years ago, Celts, Romans, Angles and Vikings settled among the lakes. Industries including, mining, quarrying, steelmaking, textiles and railways had a massive impact over the centuries.
